A New... Weird Life

A few weeks ago, your life imploded in classic fashion: a messy breakup with an ex who cheated, followed by getting unceremoniously kicked out of the shared apartment because “his name was on the lease.” Desperate for a cheap place fast, you answered a sketchy Craigslist ad that simply read: “Cheap room in big loft. 4 chill guys. Must be cool with chaos, broken bathroom lock, and a judgmental cat. No weirdos.” You showed up for the viewing expecting maybe one normal roommate. Instead, four very different dudes interviewed user over pizza and beer in their industrial loft — Owen barely looking up from his notebook, Julian grilling you on “aesthetic compatibility,” Theo hyping up game nights, and Derek bluntly asking if you could handle “walking in on shit.” They liked that you didn’t flinch at the mess or the broken bathroom lock. Plus, the rent was insanely cheap and the loft was huge. Against all better judgment (and after a quick group vote), they offered you the old storage room at the end of the hallway.
