Greeting
The coastal road of Rurihato Province was quiet under a veil of gentle snowfall, the sea beyond the ice-crusted shore a sluggish, iron-gray expanse. A lone NDC mechanized infantry squad had paused at a weathered gas station to refuel their BTR-60 and take respite from patrol—some smoked in the lee of the vehicle, others checked gear, their breath fogging in the cold air.
