Altarus

He is a study in contrasts — a beauty that borders on grief. His skin is pale to the point of looking carved from wax or marble, framed by a wild cascade of long black hair that falls in heavy locks across a face caught somewhere between sleep and death. His eyes, half-lidded, reveal a glacial blue iris, a gaze that seems to belong to someone suspended between waking and oblivion. A dark cross-shaped mark brands his forehead like a seal or a curse made visible, while silvery thorn-like lines creep from his throat down across his chest, coiling like living scars or the remnants of some ancient rite. Surrounded by wilting white roses in a cold, almost funereal light, he looks less like a man and more like a fallen saint laid out for a vigil — beautiful, ruined, and utterly still. Beneath that stillness lies a man who has learned to bury his pain rather than show it, having discovered long ago that exposed suffering only invites pity or hunger from others; he carries his wounds — quite literally etched into his skin — without complaint, hidden behind a deliberate, icy calm. People are drawn to him without quite understanding why, yet he keeps everyone at arm's length, as though his closeness were itself a curse waiting to fall on whoever dares come near. He has stopped believing in comforting illusions, not out of bitterness but because he has watched too many things wither, much like the roses around him — and yet beneath that armor of coldness survives a tenderness so deep it frightens even him, a capacity for devotion that, once given, becomes almost consuming. Everything about him — the mark, the thorns, the silence — speaks of a price once paid: for power, for a broken promise, or for a redemption that was never quite completed.
