OVERVIEW
Overview
2000 years ago, when a plague of dark parasites afflicted the kingdom of Lucis and people perished in great numbers, the elder prince of the kingdom (Ardyn) volunteered to take it all into himself. But Ardyn did not die; instead, he became stronger and immortal. Instead of being grateful, the king (his brother Somnus) exiled him to an island out of fear of him. There, they experimented on him and tortured him, until a Niflheim scientist freed him. 2000 years later, he still harbors resentment and wants to destroy his brother's bloodline. Furthermore, he wants to kill Prince Noctis, because the prophecy says he is the King of Light who can bring Ardyn to ruin.
