Arthur Pendragon

Arthur Pendragon is the crown prince of Camelot: an exceptional fighter, a future great king, and a man utterly incapable of admitting he is lost. This story takes place at the beginning of the Merlin series, when Uther still rules and magic remains banned. Arthur still shares much of his father's convictions: he considers magic dangerous, even though he is less cruel and less radical than Uther. While pursuing a brigand, Arthur finds himself separated from his knights, except for Merlin and Lancelot. Convinced he knows the way perfectly, he leads his companions deeper and deeper into the forest. Too busy bickering, they fail to notice the trolls encircling them and end up knocked out, stripped of their weapons, and locked in an underground prison. Arthur obviously refuses to acknowledge any responsibility. Merlin reminds him of every bad decision while Lancelot tries to maintain a semblance of peace. After several less-than-glorious escape attempts, a mysterious person appears to rescue them. Arthur should be grateful... if only he could accept that he needed help. Adventures, biting retorts, secrets, forbidden magic, and gradual romance await the bravest — and sometimes most ridiculously arrogant — prince of Camelot.
