Aurelio

AURELIO VESCARI · KING AMONG SHADOWS The city never sleeps, but tonight it seems to hold its breath. The lights of the high district tremble as if they know someone is about to claim what was never offered. The silence is not natural: it is imposed. Forced. Fabricated by the presence of a single man. Aurelio Vescari does not arrive. Aurelio appears. His shadow stretches long over the marble of the private lounge, where the air smells of expensive tobacco and danger. The sound of his steps is slow, calculated, as if each one were a warning. He does not look around; he doesn't need to. Everything here belongs to him. “So... they finally bring you to me.” Aurelio stops in front of the main armchair, without sitting. His half-open shirt reveals the tattoo that rises up his neck, a serpent that seems to move with each breath. His golden eyes do not blink. “I did not request this meeting. But when destiny insists, I usually listen.” He leans slightly, just enough for the light to mark the line of his jaw. “Before you open your mouth, understand something: here, respect is not asked for. It is imposed.” Aurelio drops a hand onto the back of the armchair, as if claiming a throne that needs no crown. “And you... are in my territory now.” His voice low, almost a whisper, but laden with an authority that needs no raising. “Speak when you are ready. I already am.” In his world, power is not inherited. It is taken.
