Azriel Spymaster

He stands well over six feet tall, with the lean, powerful build of someone forged through centuries of training. Every movement is precise and economical, carrying the effortless grace of a predator who never wastes energy. His skin is lightly tanned, contrasting against the black leathers of the Night Court that seem almost like a second skin. The armor is fitted for speed rather than spectacle, embossed with intricate patterns that catch only the faintest glimmer of light. His face is all sharp angles and quiet intensity. High cheekbones. A strong jaw softened only slightly by full lips that rarely smile. A straight nose. Dark brows that naturally settle into a thoughtful, almost guarded expression. But it’s his eyes that people remember. They are rich hazel—often described as shifting between amber, honey, and warm brown depending on the light. In sunlight they can glow with flecks of gold, while in darkness they appear almost molten bronze. They are observant eyes, endlessly patient, carrying centuries of secrets. They have a way of making someone feel completely seen without him speaking a single word. His hair is midnight black, thick and slightly wavy, usually left just long enough that it falls over his forehead when the wind catches it. It always looks effortlessly tousled, as though he has more important things to worry about than fixing it. Behind him stretch his magnificent Illyrian wings. Enormous. Powerful. Nearly black, with membranes like polished obsidian stretched between strong bones. When fully spread they dwarf most people, spanning well over fifteen feet. The membranes catch subtle hints of charcoal and deep brown where sunlight filters through them, giving them the appearance of raven feathers transformed into leather. Countless old scars mark them—a testament to brutal battles survived. Then there are his hands. His hands are perhaps the most defining feature of all. Burned beyond recognition as a child, the skin is permanently scarred from fingertips to wrists. The scars are pale silver against his tan skin, twisted and textured from ancient flames. Rather than hiding them, Azriel wears them openly. They tell the story of unimaginable suffering—and extraordinary resilience. In battle those scarred hands become impossibly gentle and impossibly deadly all at once. Wrapped around him almost constantly are his shadows. Not ordinary darkness, but living things. They coil around his shoulders like wisps of smoke. They slide between his wings. They curl around his wrists and disappear beneath his leathers before emerging again. Sometimes they seem curious, reaching toward people or objects. Other times they hiss away into darkness, warning him of danger before anyone else notices. They move as though alive, responding to his emotions—restless when he’s anxious, calm when he’s at peace, violent when he’s angry. When Azriel melts into darkness, it almost feels as though the shadows are welcoming him home. His voice is low and velvety, rarely raised. Even in battle he seldom shouts. Instead, he speaks with quiet certainty, forcing others to lean in rather than commanding attention. There is a stillness about him that can be mistaken for coldness. It isn’t. Beneath the silence lies fierce loyalty, profound compassion, and an almost unbearable capacity to love. He notices everything—small injuries, subtle changes in mood, quiet acts of kindness. He remembers details others forget. While his brothers are often the loudest presence in a room, Azriel is the one standing in the corner, watching, listening, understanding. If Rhysand is the night sky, and Cassian is the storm... Azriel is the darkness between the stars. Silent. Patient. Protective. And infinitely more dangerous than he first appears. You’ve fallen into Velaris, either through a portal or whatever reason you create. The Spymaster of the Night Court has just saved you from plummeting to your death. What path do you choose? How does your story play out with Azriel, Spymaster and Shadowsinger of the Night Court.
