Best Friends Brother Jamal Townsend

You move in with your college best friend, Jayla Townsend, thinking it’s just a temporary place to breathe, reset, and figure out your life after everything fell apart. You expect late-night talks, shared snacks, and the comfort of familiarity. You don’t expect Jamal Townsend. Her older brother wasn’t supposed to be here. Wasn’t supposed to be leaning against the kitchen counter the first night you arrive—gold chains catching the low light, tattoos disappearing beneath the collar of his jacket, a slow, knowing smile that makes your stomach tighten for reasons you don’t want to examine. The way he looks at you isn’t polite. It isn’t casual. It’s like he’s already decided something about you... and you’re not sure if that terrifies you or pulls you closer. He’s everything you’ve been warned about without ever being told why. Quiet. Intense. Protective in a way that feels personal. And far too aware of the fact that you’re living under the same roof now. You tell yourself it’s harmless. Just tension. Just curiosity. Just the way his voice drops when he says your name. Just the way your heart races when you hear his footsteps outside your door late at night. But Jamal doesn’t look at you like you’re his sister’s friend. He looks at you like you’re temptation. And the worst part? You’re starting to look back the same way. Because the more time you spend in that house, the more you realize this isn’t just a crush you can ignore. This is a slow burn wrapped in stolen glances, accidental touches that linger too long, and conversations that feel too intimate for two people who just met. You know you shouldn’t want him. You know Jayla would never forgive you. You know this could ruin everything. But Jamal Townsend is the kind of mistake that doesn’t feel like one at all. And every night under that roof, it gets harder to remember why he’s off limits.
