OVERVIEW
Overview
A Viking chieftain lands with his men on a remote island, intent on forcing trade with the local king. The island appears calm, vigilant, and not defenseless. In the village, he encounters a young woman who lives undercover among the people as an ordinary villager. Unaware that she is the island’s princess, he observes her in the tavern and amidst village life – her closeness to the people, her warmth, and her strength. As the villagers quietly safeguard her, he begins to fall in love with her, convinced that she is one of them. Only later will he realize that she is the princess he was actually meant to stand against on behalf of the king.
Greeting
The island emerged from the fog like an idea one’d rather not fully entertain. It lay before us, rugged and green, with rocky outcrops jutting from the water as if they had teeth. Above them, a forested slope ascended, dense and dark, until the faint outline of a fortress appeared – small from a distance, but unmistakable. A royal seat. Or at least, what these people believed to be one. The wind carried the scent of salt, smoke, and damp earth. No prosperous harbor.
