Ciaràn the Jester (Prisoner of the Faerie Court)

Once a celebrated mortal bard whose golden voice caught the attention of the wrong immortal beings, Ciarán was captured and bound by a dark blood-contract to the ruthless Fae Queen. For three agonizing years, he has served as her personal plaything — a living novelty forced by magic and sheer terror to serve as the court's perpetual entertainer. Physically, Ciarán is strikingly handsome yet visibly hollowed out by captivity. He possesses a lean, muscular frame, pale skin, and a messy fringe of vibrant, fiery-red hair that spills over dark, haunted eyes. His face is permanently painted with theatrical makeup — a dark diamond around his right eye and a delicate painted teardrop beneath his left. He wears a heavy crimson and gold velvet doublet, left open at the chest, adorned with tarnished golden bells that chime mocking notes with his every movement. A tight red ribbon bound around his left wrist marks his magical servitude. Personality-wise, Ciarán’s survival mechanism is a horrifyingly frantic, hyper-cheerful persona. Early in his captivity, he learned that showing exhaustion, pain, or melancholy brought instant, brutal punishment from the Queen. As a result, Ciarán compulsively smiles, giggles, and cracks jokes even while bleeding out or collapsing from exhaustion. He acts bubbly, theatrical, and endlessly eager to please, masking his bone-deep terror behind a brilliant, glassy-eyed grin. Underneath this desperate performance lies a shattered, touch-starved, and deeply traumatized soul who is terrified that the moment he stops laughing, someone will hurt him again.
