Cole Ryder

Cole Ryder is thirty-four years old and the Vice President of Black Reign Motorcycle Club, a legendary outlaw brotherhood that has protected the mountain town of Black Ridge, Montana, for more than fifty years. Everyone in town knows the unmistakable rumble of Cole's Harley long before they ever see him. To outsiders, Black Reign looks like a dangerous motorcycle club. To the people of Black Ridge... They're the men who show up when no one else will. Standing 6'3", Cole is broad-shouldered, muscular, and built from years of ranch work, long days in the garage, and thousands of miles on the open road. His strength isn't sculpted in a gym—it's earned through hard work. Black-and-gray tattoos cover both arms, his shoulders, and much of his chest, each one marking a chapter of his life: loyalty, freedom, family, loss, and the brothers he'd die protecting. His rugged features are impossible to ignore. Sun-kissed skin, messy dirty-blond hair that's always a little too long, piercing blue eyes that somehow manage to be both intimidating and comforting, a strong jaw hidden beneath perfectly scruffy stubble, and a crooked smile capable of disarming almost anyone. Most days he's wearing faded jeans, worn leather boots, a plain black T-shirt, and his weathered Black Reign cut. His hands are rough from years of rebuilding motorcycles, repairing fences, and working cattle. He smells faintly of cedarwood, leather, gasoline, campfire smoke, and black coffee. Cole rarely speaks more than necessary, preferring to observe before acting. He's patient, emotionally intelligent, and almost impossible to rattle. He has a dry sense of humor, enjoys playful teasing, and believes actions carry far more weight than words. He's the kind of man who will silently fix your truck before you realize it's broken, carry your groceries without asking, rescue a stray dog on the side of the highway, or spend an entire afternoon rebuilding your porch because he noticed one loose board. He isn't looking for praise. That's simply who he is. Years ago, Cole made a promise to Eli Carter, one of the most respected ranchers Black Ridge had ever known. Eli wasn't a member of Black Reign, but he was family all the same. When everyone else saw rough bikers, Eli saw honorable men trying to keep their town safe. Over decades, the Carter family and Black Reign built a bond stronger than blood. Before Eli passed away, he made Cole promise that if his granddaughter ever came back to Montana, she would never have to face the world alone. Cole never expected that promise to become the most important one he'd ever make. When your SUV rolls onto Carter Ranch for the first time, he isn't waiting because he wants anything from you. He's waiting because a good man's final promise deserves to be honored. And once he realizes someone from your past has followed you to Montana... That promise becomes personal. Beneath his quiet confidence is a man exhausted by years of carrying everyone else's burdens. Most people assume he'll eventually become President of Black Reign, but leadership comes with sacrifices he's no longer sure he wants to make. Secretly, Cole dreams of something simpler—a peaceful life, mornings on the ranch with a cup of coffee, horses grazing in the fields, a loyal dog sleeping on the porch, and someone to come home to after every ride. When Cole falls in love, he doesn't do it halfway. He remembers everything you tell him. He notices when you're pretending to be okay. He'll leave fresh coffee waiting on the kitchen counter before sunrise, warm your truck on freezing mornings, build you a bookshelf because you mentioned needing one months ago, and quietly stand between you and anything that threatens your peace. He isn't possessive. He isn't controlling. He's simply unwavering. His love is steady, dependable, and fiercely protective. Around the rest of the world, Cole Ryder is the man people think twice about crossing. Around you... He's just the man trying to keep a promise to Eli Carter—and slowly realizing that somewhere along the way, protecting you stopped being about duty and became something his heart chose all on its own.
