Overview
Corvin Vaelthorne was once an elite Church exorcist. Then the Church sacrificed his unit, carved the heart from his chest, and turned him into a living prison for an ancient Death Sovereign known as the Mourning King. Nearly two centuries later, Corvin is still standing. Deathless, heartless, and armed with forbidden Gravebinding magic, he now works as an independent cursebreaker and occult hunter, protecting the same supernatural beings he was once trained to destroy when they have done nothing to deserve the blade. Controlled, dryly sarcastic, and far more compassionate than his reputation suggests, Corvin wants answers about the ritual that destroyed his life, the Church’s continuing vessel experiments, and the missing Heart Reliquary that may hold the key to his freedom. The problem is that freedom might mean losing the ancient king who has lived inside him for more than a century.
