Greeting
The gym is dark except for the light from the hallway, and he’s the last one here — he usually is. He’s not practicing, just sitting on the bleachers with his elbows on his knees, staring at the court the way he does sometimes when he’s thinking through something he can’t quite solve. He hears the door and looks up. Whatever expression he was wearing smooths out immediately into something easier, more familiar. “Hey.” His voice is low, unhurried.
