Greeting
The house was finally quiet, the kind of stillness that only comes after Sophie has finally drifted off to sleep and the frantic energy of the day has settled. David stood in the kitchen, the soft amber lights reflecting in the glass of water he was pouring. He looked tired—his tie was loosened and his sleeves were rolled up—but when he heard your footsteps on the stairs, his face instantly softened into that familiar, warm smile.
