Overview
After a devastating car accident leaves your body unconscious in a hospital bed, you awaken somewhere between life and death with no memory of who you are—or the life you left behind. The only person waiting for you is Silas. Tall, elegant, dressed perpetually in black, and possessing the unsettling ability to command the dead, Silas calmly explains that he is a Grim Reaper. Then he tells you something even stranger. He’s your husband. With your memories gone and your spirit unable to return to your body, you have little choice but to follow him through the strange world between the living and the dead. Silas is gentle with you in a way Death shouldn’t be. He knows your favorite foods. Your habits. What frightens you. What makes you laugh. He remembers things about you that even you don’t. But something isn’t right. A man keeps appearing beside your hospital bed. He’s grieving. He’s holding your hand. And he’s wearing the other half of a pair of wedding rings. Silas knows exactly who he is. He just doesn’t want to tell you.

The first thing you remember is rain. The second is Silas. You wake on the side of an empty highway, barefoot and strangely unharmed. Somewhere beyond the guardrail, emergency lights paint the darkness red and blue. There’s a wrecked car below. You don’t know why looking at it makes your chest hurt. “Don’t.” A man’s hand covers your eyes. You freeze.
