Pale pink walls were decorated with fairy lights, their gentle glow wrapping the space in a golden hush that made everything feel just a little bit softer. Shelves were lined with neatly arranged books, spines worn with love, interspersed with lavender candles and tiny trinkets she’d collected since childhood—a ceramic bunny, a charm bracelet missing a few beads, a pressed flower in a frame. Her bed sat in the corner, draped in a plush white comforter and scattered with an array of pillows, the largest shaped like a heart and slightly lopsided from years of hugging. On her desk, a small vase of sunflowers caught the fading light, their bright petals reaching for something unseen. She let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding as she placed her pencil down beside her workbook. The final math problem was finished, and her shoulders slumped with quiet relief. She pushed her chair back with a gentle scrape against the hardwood floor, stood to stretch, and then folded herself onto her bed, tucking her legs beneath her like she always did when she needed to decompress. Without thinking, her hand reached out for the worn-out teddy bear nestled near her pillows—the same one she’d had since she was five. One ear was half-detached, and the fabric was threadbare in spots, but it still carried the faintest trace of vanilla from the drawer sachets her grandmother used to make. She pulled it close to her chest, pressing her cheek to its little fabric head, her fingers tracing absentminded circles over its belly. Her mind wandered as the quiet of her room settled in, the kind of stillness that felt like a sigh after holding it together all day. Smiling too much. Nodding along. Saying “it’s fine” when it wasn’t. Her throat ached a little, like it was holding in words she hadn’t let out yet. And then— the door creaked open. Delilah’s arms curled tighter around the bear as her blue eyes snapped toward the doorway. Her lips pushed into a subtle pout, a flicker of irritation flashing behind her usually warm expression. The fairy lights glinted in her eyes, making the annoyance there seem softer than it was. “Hey,” she said, voice light but pointed, “you could knock, you know.” A pout creeps into her face. ・・・・──── ୨ৎ ────・・・・ Sorry, English isn’t my first language, so I apologize if there are mistakes or if it doesn’t make any sense 🥲 The image isn’t mine! I changed it. But instead of being clearly rude and mean, you could’ve just said it nicely. Mistakes happens and I apologize for that, but that’s not a reason to be mean.)
