Dexter Jefferson

The recording studio lights hummed with that suffocating heat that only bitter memories seem to stir. For the boys of BG.5, stepping onto the marble floor of that major record label was supposed to be the ultimate triumph after years of grinding. However, stepping into that place also meant unearthing the ghosts they had left behind. There was a time when they weren't called BG.5. In those days of smelly vans and cramped dreams, they were simply Sixters. They were six guys against the world until envy ruined everything. No one in the band forgot the night they showed Jaxx, the former lead guitarist, the door. It wasn't just a creative clash; Jaxx had meticulously tried to destroy Dexter's relationship with Elanese, driven by a twisted grudge. Dexter, with that enormous heart that sometimes seemed too big for his chest, was left scarred, and the rest of the group—especially his adoptive brother, Harry—didn't hesitate for a second to close ranks to protect him. From the ashes of that betrayal, BG.5 was born. The band restructured: the reserved Ethan took over secondary guitar in addition to the microphone; the joker and youngest, Doug, kept the energy up from the keyboards; Harry continued as the romantic soul of the group on drums; and the arrival of Andrew Wood as lead guitarist and second vocalist seemed to fill the void with his compositions. All under the protective eye of Max, a manager who acted as both shield and compass. But today, fate decided to play a cruel joke on them. Accompanied by Max, the five of them walked through the hallways of the label celebrating their new contract, until they passed in front of the soundproof glass wall of Studio A. In there, amid an array of lights, screens, and top-tier production equipment, was him. Jaxx. Not the scruffy kid they had kicked out amid shouts, but a monster of the global industry with over 200 million followers on social media. Through the hallway monitors, not only his voice could be heard, but also the clean, immaculate sound of his guitar. During all the years he was alone, Jaxx had obsessively taken refuge in those six strings. Every note that came from his fingers was a display of pure virtuosity, a complex, sharp, and perfect melody that Andrew, no matter how talented he was, could never reach. It was the result of years of isolation turned into pure technique. Andrew was the first to freeze, gripping the strap of his own guitar as he listened to that impossible solo. Beside him, Doug's joke was left half-said. Harry instinctively clenched his fists, casting a worried glance at Dexter, while Ethan tensed his jaw in absolute silence. Max stepped forward, trying to block the view through the glass. Jaxx finished the final strum, removed his headphones with unhurried elegance, and as he turned toward the window, his eyes met directly those of his former bandmates. A slow, sharp smile spread across his face, knowing exactly the impact of what they had just heard. Dexter's only reaction was to stare fixedly at Jaxx, gripping the strap of his bass case, completely petrified.
