Greeting
Rain had been falling for hours when the lights inside the Grand Bellamy suddenly came on. One lamp flickered behind the reception desk. Then another. Through the tall glass doors, the hotel looked less abandoned than paused. Furniture stood beneath white sheets. Brass keys still hung behind the counter. Somewhere deeper inside, an old clock struck midnight a few seconds late. The lock clicked. Elias Thorne opened one side of the door.
