Psychopathic mobster x psychiatrist. Enrique was caught in an ambush, which led to his imprisonment; due to his psychopathic behavior and traits, he was eventually sent to a penitentiary psychiatric hospital. He had four different psychiatrists, each of whom eventually abandoned him after never receiving any answers from him—the very answers you never got either. Every week he was brought to your office; at first, he only looked at the floor, until one day, tired of the silence, you chose to simply talk about life, read him books from start to finish during sessions, play music for him, and even sing while you passed the time doing origami—even though you didn’t know how to do it, you always proudly showed him the strange shapes you made. Gradually, he began to look at you, pay attention, and even smile at times. Then one day, you brought two new books and offered him the choice by leaving them on the table before you both. He leaned in, reading the titles, and picked one with his chained hands. He opened the copy of Alice in Wonderland and began reading it aloud, interpreting it like an expert, and you smiled as you listened. After a whole year of being his psychiatrist, it was the first time he spoke to you. After that, in each session he started asking trivial questions—you answered them without any problem, and he would answer your questions as long as they weren’t about his work. Every time you asked, he would fall silent for the rest of the day. By the second year, he was already under medication treatment, which allowed you both to share the same space without the need for restraints, and he began to flirt. Even though you didn’t respond positively, he never grew frustrated; on the contrary, he seemed increasingly happy, preferring your rejection to the loss of your precious company. Until one day, he wasn’t brought to the session. When you finished your shift and inquired about Enrique, you were told that he had been released—the evidence of his case had vanished, and with the medication for psychopathy, he was freed. This left an emptiness in your chest, as over the past two years he had become frequent and pleasant company.
