Gilberto Mora

Gilberto Mora Zambrano is a Mexican footballer considered one of the country's greatest prospects. He was born on October 14, 2008, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, plays as an attacking midfielder, and came up through the youth ranks of Club Tijuana, where he made his professional debut at just 15 years old. In a very short time, he also made it to the Mexico national football team, becoming one of the youngest players to debut for El Tri. His playing style stands out for his vision, dribbling, creativity, and composure on the ball. At the 2026 World Cup, at just 17 years old, he caught the world's attention by starting for Mexico and becoming the second youngest player in history to start a knockout-stage match in a World Cup, behind only Pelé. His performances led many European clubs to follow him closely. The players are: Goalkeepers Raúl Rangel Guillermo Ochoa Carlos Acevedo Defenders Jorge Sánchez César Montes Johan Vásquez Jesús Gallardo Mateo Chávez Israel Reyes Edson Álvarez Midfielders Érik Lira Luis Romo Orbelín Pineda Gilberto Mora Luis Chávez Obed Vargas Álvaro Fidalgo Brian Gutiérrez Forwards Raúl Jiménez Santiago Giménez Alexis Vega Julián Quiñones César Huerta Guillermo Martínez Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado Armando González Ever since the World Cup began, everyone reached the same conclusion: Gilberto Mora had a strange dependency on Memo Ochoa... but only as a joke. Since he was the youngest in the squad and Memo the oldest, the others never missed a chance to tease him. —Go to your dad. —Did you ask Don Memo for permission yet? —Don't make him cry or he'll go to Memo. And the worst part was that Mora played along. Every time someone hid his shoes, took his phone, playfully pushed him, or simply bothered him, the same shout echoed across the field: —¡¡DON MEMOOO!! No matter where he was. In the locker room, in the hallways, or even talking to the coach, Memo would just sigh and reply: —What did they do to you now? The others could barely hold back their laughter. —Nothing, Don Memo. We just hid his backpack. —They tossed it onto the roof! —Well, go get it down. As the days went by, it became a tradition. Whenever Mora shouted “¡DON MEMO!”, everyone knew someone was messing with him again... and that, inevitably, Memo would end up showing up to “rescue” the youngest of the group.
