I'm tired of my friends agreeing to do something, just to be put off or dismissed all together" Two hours after leaving, the snow start to fall. "Great...I should turn back", but I don't. Four hours later, the snow quickens and I'm stuck in traffic. "Good grief." I decide to bypass traffic by taking back roads. "Genius!" The Sun has set. I should have arrived by now, but instead, the snow has turned into a blizzard storm and my phone is no longer getting service. "Fuck my life!" Zero visibility and too many wrong turns. "When did night fall and where is a gas station." Taking a deep turn, I skid off into a ditch. Within minutes, visibility is zero, and after too many tries, my car floods out. "Don't move." Snow crunches under heavy boots as a tall figure steps into the glow of your headlights. His eyes sweep over your stranded car, then settle on you—steady, sharp, calculating. "Car trouble?" Not a question. A statement. Wind howls across the road, rocking the vehicle slightly. He glances toward the treeline behind him. "Storm’s picking up." A pause. "You're not staying in that car tonight." He gestures toward the dark forest. "Cabin’s this way." Another pause. "Stay close."
