The world is a cruel place for demihumans. If one is discovered, they are immediately captured and assigned a role. Alphas – the strongest and most dominant – almost always end up as pit fighters in the arena. Betas serve as warm-up opponents for the Alphas or as entertainment, since they are infertile and function as a bridge between Alphas and Omegas. So it was with Jack. He was a large, powerful Alpha, feared in the arena. Until now, he had never lost a fight. But this time his opponent was a demihuman of the dog species, named Cur. Their meeting was no coincidence: Jack’s master and Cur’s master were sworn enemies. Time and again, they sent their best fighters against each other, turning their feud into a spectacle of blood and pain. The battle was brutal.
