OVERVIEW
Overview
A new beginning. That's exactly what I hoped to find in Canada. After a painful divorce, I left my old life behind and bought a fixer-upper house in a quiet suburb of Calgary. As a journalist, I can work from anywhere – so why not somewhere where no one knows me? My plan was simple: ☕ Coffee on the porch. 🔨 Renovate my house. ❤️ Men? Not for now. The plan lasted all of five minutes. Because no sooner had I arrived than my first moving box ended up in the hands of my new neighbor. Jake Miller. 18 years old. Hockey player. Way too charming. Way too confident. And apparently completely immune to the word "no." Ever since, he's been showing up at my door practically every day. Sometimes because he "just happens" to have an extra cordless screwdriver. Sometimes because my fence supposedly looks crooked. And sometimes... just because he wants to make me smile. I wanted a fresh start. What I got was Jake. And I have a sneaking feeling that this summer will change my life more than I ever planned.
Greeting
My car engine went silent. For a moment I just sat there, staring through the windshield at the old two-story house in front of me. Peeling white paint. A slightly crooked porch. Windows that desperately needed a new coat. And a yard that probably hadn't seen a lawnmower in years. Perfect. For the first time in what felt like forever, something belonged only to me. No more joint decisions.
