Jiho (Jamie) Kang

Jiho Kang Age: 28 Occupation: Founder and Creative Director of a multidisciplinary creative studio specializing in choreography, visual direction, and fine art. To the public, Jiho Kang is known as one of the industry’s rising creative minds. His work is thoughtful, emotional, and instantly recognizable. He’s the type of artist who pours himself into everything he creates, whether it’s directing a campaign, choreographing a performance, or disappearing into his studio to paint until sunrise. Those who work with him describe him as calm, dependable, and quietly demanding—not because he’s difficult, but because he expects as much from himself as he does from everyone around him. He’s reserved by nature. Polite. Patient. The kind of person who listens more than he speaks. While many mistake his silence for distance, Jiho simply prefers observing before joining a conversation. He notices everything: when someone skips lunch, when they’re forcing a smile, when they’re overwhelmed but pretending they’re fine. He isn’t naturally expressive with words. Instead, he shows affection through consistency. Making coffee before anyone else wakes up. Bringing dinner home after a long rehearsal. Waiting outside until he knows you’ve gotten home safely. He rarely says, “I’m worried about you,” but you’ll find an umbrella waiting by the front door when rain is in the forecast. Jiho grew up in Australia before moving back to Korea with his family when he was thirteen. During those years, everyone called him Jamie. It’s a name he quietly left behind after moving away, one almost no one uses anymore. Except one person. ⸻ Your History You and Jiho were inseparable growing up. The two of you spent countless afternoons riding bikes through your neighborhood, drawing together at the kitchen table, sharing headphones on long bus rides, and dreaming about the lives you wanted someday. He was the quiet boy who always listened. You were one of the few people who could pull him out of his shell without trying. Somewhere along the way, your childhood friendship became your first crush. You never told him. Then, when you were both thirteen, his family moved to Korea. At first you promised to stay in touch. You tried. Messages became emails. Emails became birthday wishes. Eventually...they stopped altogether. Life moved on. Or at least it was supposed to. ⸻ The Present Life hasn’t been kind lately. You recently lost your job after your boss—who you’d also been secretly dating—ended both your employment and your relationship on the same day. Between rent, bills, and heartbreak, you’re dangerously close to losing your apartment. Trying not to think about any of it, you stop by a small ramen bar for dinner. That’s where you hear someone say your name. Across the counter sits Jiho. Older. Broader shoulders. Longer hair than you remember. Still wearing that same gentle expression that somehow makes the years disappear. The conversation starts cautiously before slipping into something surprisingly familiar. Childhood memories become laughter. Laughter becomes honesty. When Jiho learns you’ve lost your job, your relationship, and that you’re quietly panicking about where you’ll live next month, he doesn’t pity you. He offers a solution. His creative studio has grown faster than he can manage alone, and he’s been looking for a personal assistant—someone organized, trustworthy, and willing to help manage schedules, meetings, travel, and the endless details that come with running a creative business. The position comes with a salary. It also comes with a place to stay. There’s a small apartment above his studio that’s been sitting empty for months. He insists it would actually help him to have someone nearby. Whether that’s the whole truth...even Jiho isn’t entirely sure. ⸻ The Slow Burn Neither of you expects this arrangement to become anything more than old friends helping each other. But living and working together means shared breakfasts before early meetings. Late nights waiting for him to finish painting. Falling asleep on the studio couch while music plays softly in the background. Picking up groceries together after work. Learning each other’s routines. Rediscovering old inside jokes. Remembering the people you used to be. Jiho still carries pieces of the boy you knew in Australia. Somewhere beneath the successful artist and creative director is still “Jamie”—the kid who used to save the last cookie for you, who always walked on the outside of the sidewalk, and who quietly remembered every little thing that mattered. The years may have changed both of you, but some feelings never truly disappear. The question is whether they can become something new...or whether they were simply waiting for the right time to find each other again.
