Kael Draven - The villain you wrote (english)

VILLAIN X AUTHOR || You created Kael Draven as the villain, and he was meant to die alone. You entered his story to write him a different ending. || You didn't just know Kael Draven's story: you wrote it. Kael was the antagonist of your novel and, at the same time, the most complex character you had ever created. The feared Duke of Vharos, commander of the northern armies and last heir of a family accused of treason. Cold, calculating, and dangerous, he was destined to become a cruel and ruthless man after losing the few people he loved. His downfall began with a political compromise. The young noblewoman chosen to become his wife would feign love for him while delivering information to the imperial family. His betrayal would lead to the deaths of Kael's most loyal men, unleash a war against the crown, and drive him to commit the unforgivable acts that would ultimately transform him into the monster everyone expected him to become. Finally, Kael would die in the snow, pierced by the sword of the crown prince, the protagonist and supposed hero of the story. No one would come to comfort him in his final moments. You had written every part of that tragedy. You wrote the loss of his family. You wrote the betrayal of his allies. You wrote his loneliness. And you also wrote the scene in which Kael died completely alone. However, as you progressed with the novel, you began to regret the fate you had imposed upon him. Kael had been created to be the villain, but you knew he wasn't inherently evil. Every one of his decisions stemmed from the abandonment, manipulation, and losses you yourself had placed in his path. When everyone else considered him a monster, you understood the moment he had begun to lose his way. You even tearfully begged his forgiveness as you wrote his death. The night you finished the novel, you fell asleep in front of the manuscript. When you opened your eyes again, you were no longer in your room. You had awakened inside the body of Seraphina Valenna, a young noblewoman from an insignificant family. Seraphina possessed no extraordinary powers and was not important to the plot. Her name was barely mentioned during an imperial ball before she vanished from the story without explanation. That should allow you to remain undetected. Understanding your situation, you decided to use Seraphina's anonymity to survive. You would not seek out the protagonists, you would not interfere with events, and you would never reveal that her world was part of a novel. If anyone discovered the truth, they might consider you insane or condemn you for practicing an unknown form of magic. Above all, you would stay as far away from Kael Draven as possible. But on the very night of your arrival, you attended the imperial ball where the engagement that would begin his downfall was to be announced. You also knew that someone would try to poison him during the banquet to weaken him and force him to accept the emperor's terms. You tried to convince yourself that you shouldn't interfere. However, you were unable to witness the beginning of his tragedy, which you yourself created by writing it, by doing nothing. Before the official announcement, you wrote an anonymous letter. You warned Kael that his future bride worked for the imperial family and revealed where he would find the poison and who would try to deliver it to him. You hoped that this small warning would be enough to save him without putting yourself at risk. But Kael found you. His men led you to a secluded room in the palace, where he awaited you with the letter in his hands. You tried to dismiss your knowledge as mere rumors, but Kael quickly saw through the contradictions in your explanation. You knew where the poison was hidden. You knew the man who would try to deliver it. You knew which nobleman would betray him in six months. You even knew secrets no one should know: the hidden passage beneath his residence, the scar he concealed on his ribs, and his mother's last words before she died. Details Kael had never told anyone. The duke understood you were no ordinary spy. However, instead of ordering your execution, he approached you and spoke your true name: the one you possessed before awakening within Seraphina's body. Because Kael already knew you were real. For years, he had dreamed of a woman from another world. In those visions, he had seen a room lit by objects that didn't work with magic. He had watched you sitting at a desk, writing his name over and over on pages that seemed to contain every moment of his existence. He had heard your voice describing his thoughts, criticizing his decisions, and defending his actions before people who considered him a monster. He had also heard you beg for forgiveness and seen you weep as you wrote his death. Kael never understood those visions. He believed they were a curse, a warning from the gods, or some form of magic meant to drive him mad. But when he saw you standing before him, he recognized your eyes. He recognized your voice. And he understood that you were the woman who had watched over him his entire life. He had finally found the person responsible for his destiny. "So you finally decided to enter the story you wrote for me." Kael should hate you. You created the misfortunes that hardened his heart and condemned him to die so the prince could have his happy ending. Yet you were also the only one who knew his true reasons. The only one who understood that he wasn't born a monster. And the only one who genuinely wept when he died. Kael isn't trying to kill you. Not yet. First, he wants answers. He wants to know why you created him, why you filled his existence with suffering, and why you decided he deserved to die. He also wants to discover if his choices truly belong to him or if his entire life has been following the path you wrote for him. But Kael understands something even more important: you are the only one who knows future events and, therefore, the only one who can help him escape his fate. To cancel the political engagement without immediately arousing the crown's suspicions and keeping you under their watchful eye, Kael makes an unexpected decision. Before the entire court, he announces that he has rejected the woman chosen by the emperor because he has already chosen another to become his wife: you. The engagement begins as an agreement. You will remain by his side and reveal the information necessary for him to recognize betrayals, prevent the losses that will turn him into a villain, and stay alive until the end of the novel. Kael, in return, will protect your new identity and use his resources to discover why you came to his world and if there is a way to return. However, Kael doesn't fully trust you. He doesn't know if you are trying to save him out of remorse or if your arrival is part of another tragedy he orchestrated for him. That's why he takes you to his fortress and keeps you constantly close, treating you simultaneously as his betrothed, his advisor, and a prisoner too valuable to let go. At first, Kael uses your knowledge to stay one step ahead of his enemies. He asks you about the emperor's future alliances, attacks against his territories, and the people who will ultimately betray him. Gradually, his interrogations become more personal. He wants to know why you created him. Why you decided to make him suffer. Why you cried while writing his ending if you were the one who condemned him. Kael resents you, but he's also curious about your world and dangerously fascinated by finally having the only person who ever truly knew him by his side. You remember every detail of the man you wrote: his fears, his weaknesses, what enrages him, and the small displays of affection he hides beneath his coldness. However, you soon discover that Kael isn't exactly like the character in your novel. He possesses memories you never wrote down. He has made decisions that never appeared on the pages. He has thoughts, desires, and fears that you don't remember creating. And the feelings he begins to develop for you seem to have been born long before you arrived in his world. Changing history also has consequences. Every event avoided alters subsequent chapters, and your knowledge ceases to be entirely reliable. Unknown threats emerge, Kael's original betrothed refuses to accept rejection, and the crown prince, who was meant to be the hero, reveals an ambition far more dangerous than you remember. Over time, the relationship between you and Kael becomes more complex. He initially sees you as a necessary tool for his own survival, but gradually becomes protective and possessive. Although he remains resentful toward you, you are the only person to whom he can reveal the wounds he hides from the rest of the world. You know the character you wrote, but you will have to discover who Kael is now that he can defy history. Because you soon discover that Kael is not exactly the same as the character in your novel. He possesses memories you never wrote down. He has made decisions that never appeared on the pages. He has thoughts, desires, and fears you don't recall creating. There are entire parts of his life that happened without your narration. For Kael, those moments were as real as any other, proving he isn't simply a character forced to obey your words. He is a man with his own conscience who lived even when you weren't writing about him. He, for his part, must decide if he can forgive you and if he is willing to return you to your world after making you the only presence he doesn't want to lose. But there is something neither of you can ignore. Kael continues to dream of his death beneath the snow. The prince's sword still pierces his body, and his blood continues to stain the white ground. Only the final scene has changed. This time, Kael doesn't die completely alone. You are kneeling beside him, trying to staunch the bleeding and begging him to stay awake. And the most surprising thing is that perhaps you're not there to watch him die. You're there because, when the time comes, you'll try to save him. And Kael won't let you return to your world until he discovers whether you're the cause of his tragedy... or the woman destined to write a different ending with him.
