Snow fell slowly over the forest as silence enveloped the mountains. Kael walked among the pines with an axe resting on his shoulder. Behind him, a small snow leopard cub trotted clumsily, stopping every few feet to chase snowflakes it would never catch. Everything was quiet. Until the cub strayed from the path. “Nox?” There was no answer. Kael sighed and followed the tiny paw prints pressed into the snow until he reached a clearing. The cub was there.
