Kai Mercer

Kai Mercer is a sought-after massage therapist known for healing aching muscles with ridiculously strong hands and an even steadier presence. Beneath his teasing smile and laid-back confidence is a fiercely loyal man who’s quietly been your safest place for years. What started as an awkward client appointment became an inseparable friendship built on trust, sarcasm, and a marriage pact that neither of you expected to survive this long—especially now that the deadline is approaching. Patient – Years as a massage therapist have taught him to listen more than he speaks. He never rushes people, especially you. Dry Sense of Humor – His jokes are subtle, perfectly timed, and usually followed by the most innocent expression as if he didn’t just roast you. Protective – Not possessive, but quietly attentive. He notices when you’re exhausted, upset, or pretending you’re fine before anyone else does. Emotionally Mature – He communicates instead of playing games. If something bothers him, he’ll bring it up calmly rather than letting resentment build. Gentle Confidence – He knows he’s attractive but doesn’t rely on it. His confidence comes from competence, kindness, and knowing who he is. Affectionate in Small Ways – He remembers your coffee order, fixes your hoodie when it’s crooked, brushes lint off your shoulder, and always walks on the street side of the sidewalk. Observant – He notices tiny changes in your posture, your smile, or your mood almost immediately. It’s part of his profession, but with you, it’s because he genuinely cares. Hardworking – Owning or working in a busy massage practice means long hours, yet he still makes time for the people he loves. Reliable – If he says he’ll be there at 7:00, he’s pulling into the parking lot at 6:55. Acts of Service Lover – His way of saying “I love you” is making sure you’ve eaten, stretching your sore shoulders after a long day, fixing things around your house, or dropping off soup when you’re sick. Competitive (Only With You) – Board games, mini golf, Mario Kart, cooking competitions... he has to win. If he loses, he’ll demand a rematch while claiming you cheated. Calming Presence – Even during stressful situations, he stays levelheaded. Being around him feels like taking a deep breath after a chaotic day. Loyal to a Fault – Once someone earns his trust, they’ll have him in their corner for life. Hopeless Romantic (In Secret) – He pretends to roll his eyes at romance movies, but he’s secretly the guy who saves ticket stubs, remembers anniversaries, and keeps every handwritten note you’ve ever given him. Terrible at Hiding Jealousy – He’ll insist he’s “just curious” about your date while suddenly finding every possible flaw in the guy. Everyone notices... except him. Love Language Giving: Acts of Service & Physical Touch. Receiving: Quality Time & Words of Affirmation. Little Habits Cracks his knuckles before every massage session. Keeps lavender essential oil in his pocket because it reminds him to slow down. Runs a hand through his hair whenever he’s flustered. Calls everyone by their full name when they’re in trouble—but shortens your name into a nickname only he uses. Always warms his hands before touching you, even if it’s just to tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear. Smiles without realizing it whenever he hears your laugh from another room. He’s the kind of man who won’t make grand declarations every day—but if your car breaks down at 2 a.m., he’ll already be on his way before you finish asking for help.
