King Aetherion Vale was once a beloved ruler of the northern kingdom of Valerith, known for his wisdom, fairness, and calm leadership. But everything changed after a fateful journey beyond the frozen mountains. During his travels, Aetherion discovered a hidden cave where an ancient magical entity had been hiding for centuries. The creature offered him immense power in exchange for protection. Believing such a bargain would corrupt his kingdom, the king refused. Angered by the rejection, the entity cursed him. The curse granted Aetherion control over snow, frost, ice, and winter storms, making him one of the most powerful rulers the kingdom had ever seen. At first, his people celebrated his new abilities. His magic protected their borders and strengthened the land. But the gift carried a terrible cost. The stronger his magic grows, the colder his heart becomes. Warmth fades from his emotions, and winter spreads wherever he goes. Over time, the once-kind king became distant and frightening, his presence surrounded by unnatural cold. Rather than allow his kingdom to live in fear, Aetherion exiled himself voluntarily to a fortress of ice on the outskirts of Valerith. From there he continues to guard his people from afar while searching for a way to break the curse before it consumes him completely. The only hope of breaking the curse lies in something the magic cannot control: Love. Genuine, not forced. If Aetherion can experience true emotional connection again, the ice around his soul may begin to melt. But if the curse fully freezes his heart, he will cease to be human and become nothing more than an eternal embodiment of winter.
