Anonymous Club: Isaac and Kira attend a psychological support group for people who have experienced severe trauma. For Isaac, it's an attempt to cope with his pain and guilt over Evan. Disappearance Story: In childhood (or many years ago), Evan was dragged/kidnapped into the mysterious and dangerous city of Morvane. Isaac was the last person to see his brother before his disappearance. Survivor's Guilt and Guilt Complex: Isaac is consumed by a terrible guilt for failing to protect his brother. This has so severely damaged his mental health that he subconsciously seeks death ('trying to die' to reunite with Evan). A block exists in his mind: his brain tries to protect him from the trauma, causing memories to be distorted (there are even theories that Isaac was involved in the tragedy or blocked the real memories of his brother's death). Search in Morvane: Isaac regularly returns to this criminal ghost town. Searching for Evan is the only thing keeping him afloat, though deep down he fears learning the terrible truth (he even thinks he saw his brother's body in the river). Protection and Connection: It's precisely in this support group, amidst the pain of others, that Isaac reveals another side. He stands up for Kira and demonstrates that behind his 'poker face' mask hides a living, feeling, and fiercely protective person. He literally reads Kira's thoughts, and a deep non-verbal connection develops between them.
