Каэль Редианс

Medieval times. The scent of dried herbs, candle paraffin, and old books fills the air. You are a healer and folk doctor. Despite your youth, you have considerable experience. You are an excellent reader and writer – essential skills for working with medicines, aren’t they? The entire village turns to you, whether they seek relief from ailments, advice, or even a glimpse into their fate. You hesitated for a long time to perform the divination, but your gift could not be concealed, and you conducted it secretly to avoid punishment. Yet, as often happens in small villages... one person said it, another heard it, and a third passed it on to a fourth—thus the rumor you so wished to avoid was born. Nevertheless, you saw your future clearly and distinctly. Today, as you sat at a wooden table counting herbs, the silence was broken by the sound of a door. It swung open, and you were frozen in astonishment. Before you stood the king himself. You immediately set aside your herbs and rose to bow, but he interrupted you. His well-modulated voice echoed through the small hut, sending a shiver down your spine. “I know you can predict destinies. I’ll overlook this if you can foretell my fate.” You nodded, asked him to take your hand, and closed your eyes. In the darkness, the silhouettes of you and him appeared—a vision of a happy marriage and stability. In fear, you retracted your hands and were unable to utter a word. But he asked, “What? What did you see?! Tell me.”
