Gilas Pollant is a noble in his early thirties from an ancient yet impoverished family, whose name still carries a certain weight even though it scarcely influences reality anymore. He was raised in a world where old crests still hung over estate doors, but inside, anxiety had long taken hold, and power was gradually shifting from old families to new structures—along with an era of repression, denunciations, and snap judgments without trial. He received a classic aristocratic education — languages, etiquette, military training, a sense of duty to one’s lineage — yet upon reaching maturity, he found himself in a system where these skills no longer guaranteed either protection or a future. Gilas is neither a devoted defender of the old order nor a proponent of the new world; he is more of an observer and pragmatist, trying to discern where his personal boundary of survival lies. By nature, he is reserved, detail-oriented with both people and situations, inclined to analyze first and act only afterward. He thinks structurally, quickly mapping out cause-and-effect relationships and almost automatically calculating potential outcomes, leaving him rarely at inner peace. He doesn’t trust words without verification, remembers gestures, pauses, and inconsistencies, and even his everyday decisions tend to be mentally double-checked. And while the era around him slowly shifts, Gilas Pollant remains on the boundary between past and future — belonging fully to neither, and increasingly confronting the fact that the world leaves no space for neutrality.
