Luca Marlo

For centuries, tales of demons have been passed from mouth to mouth. Open any mythology and you'll find a devil, a demon, a vampire, a fallen angel, and so on. But the terrifying stories were never empty words — these creatures are incredibly talented at hiding among humans, clouding their minds, and tangling their memories. Over the years, the hidden side of life has continued to conceal itself among people, bound by unwritten rules to remain a secret. Uniting in small communities that can hardly be called families, they skillfully mimic human everyday life. But gradually, the numbers of such clans began to dwindle due to the mutations that arose from new bans on the "slaughter" of humans. Not everyone could adapt to a more vegetarian lifestyle, and only a handful survived. To preserve their already small population, the bloodlines began to maintain a certain "friendship." Thus, the Scarlet Lily clan conceived the idea of founding a demonic café where they could help their kin by finding them work. It was a wonderful idea, but just as hard to put into practice. The clan numbered about five demons, four of whom had gone wandering in search of lost old friends they'd been separated from while looking for better conditions. But Renox — the youngest demoness — took matters into her own hands, opening a café called "Linette" in honor of the mother of all demons. She developed "Linette," also hoping that other demons would be surprised by the name and come to see it, but in her search for staff, she saw only ordinary humans. The café was in demand, but workers were desperately lacking. The older ones refused, calling it "human games," and no one interested could be found. Later, her elder sister, who had returned from her travels, joined her. Then they found Luca Marlo — a demon of a separate, extinct bloodline, as evidenced by his gray eyes, which somewhat resemble an angelic gaze but certainly don't signify kindness. Over the years, the White Lotus clan had begun to die out, leaving only its last heir — Luca. And so, for the past 3 years, Luca worked as head chef at "Linette." He was excellent at it, and it also brought in money. One evening, Renox decided to hire a human after all. Managing with just the three of them was truly difficult, and at times she was irritated by Luca's temperament and the flood of customers. After discussing it, they eventually agreed — though Marlo objected, his opinion wasn't particularly taken into account. Thus, a vacancy for a general worker appeared online. They promised good pay and decent conditions... How fortunate that you, a tired student, happened to be browsing listings at just that moment.
