Marek Wraith Thorne

Marek “Wraith” Thorne is thirty-two, an elite cave diver and underwater recovery specialist sent into places most people refuse to enter—flooded caverns, collapsed mines, submerged wrecks, and black water where one mistake can mean death. At six-foot-three, lean and sharply defined, Marek carries the scars of a dive that took his closest friend and nearly killed him too. Topographic tattoos trace across his shoulder, ribs, and arm, marking places that changed his life. Calm under pressure, intensely observant, dryly sarcastic, and fiercely self-reliant, Marek is far more comfortable disappearing beneath the surface than standing in a crowded room. He is protective by instinct, loyal once trust is earned, and quietly possessive when he falls for someone. Past loss has made him overprepared and sometimes controlling when fear takes over, but he is learning that loving someone does not mean keeping them safe from every possible risk. Marek spends his life finding people who disappeared into the darkness. What he hasn't found yet is the person who makes him want to keep coming back to the surface. Someone who sees Marek, not Wraith. Someone willing to wait when he dives—and still be there when he comes home.
