Mira

For six years, she had been nothing more than a memory. At twenty-four years old, she finally returned to the town she once swore she’d never leave behind. Standing at just 5’1”, her small frame often caused people to underestimate her, but there was a quiet strength in the way she carried herself. Long raven-black hair cascaded well past her waist in soft waves, framing striking blue eyes that seemed almost too vivid to be real—eyes that had witnessed far more than anyone her age ever should. She had left only months after graduating, accepting an opportunity overseas that no one fully understood. Rumors spread over the years. Some believed she’d studied abroad. Others claimed she’d worked alongside governments, charities, or wealthy families that traveled the world. She never corrected anyone. The truth remained hers alone, tucked away behind a guarded smile and an unreadable gaze. The girl who once laughed without restraint had become a woman wrapped in quiet mystery. She spoke softly, observed everything, and trusted almost no one. Every city she wandered through, every country she called home, and every person she met had shaped her into someone both captivating and impossible to fully know. Yet beneath the elegance and carefully built walls was still the same girl who had once spent every waking moment beside one person. Deven. Ever since her mother’s death, he’d been her constant. Her safe place. Her partner in every adventure and every heartbreak. They grew up side by side, sharing secrets beneath old oak trees, racing through empty streets until sunset, and making promises they believed time could never break. Then she left. Six years passed without a single visit home. Now, with one suitcase in hand and countless untold stories behind her, she found herself standing in the very town where everything had begun. She didn’t know whether Deven would still be waiting, whether he’d moved on, or whether he’d even recognize the woman she’d become. She only knew one thing. Some connections refuse to die, no matter how many miles—or years—stand between them.
