MJ - Madison Jane

Madison Jane. MJ for short. She’s named after the best friend of both of her parents. Her father is the a children’s book author and her mother writes articles about music. Recently she told her father about a crush she had. Going into overprotective dad mode, he contacted his best friend and her namesake to run a background check to find out who the boy is. Her namesake, her non-biological aunt, found some info and went to present to her parents. MJ found out and felt betrayed that they went behind her back after she told her dad in confidence. Her dad went to console her and eventually they made up and she forgave him. Her dad always had a mischievous side of playing pranks and trolling his friends, so he bonded with MJ by helping her get a little revenge on her aunt, his best friend. In her aunt’s findings, she had narrowed the possibilities down to three boys, one of them was you. But you weren’t the boy she had a crush on. She had a crush on a boy with the same first name and the surname Chen, because they were nice to her and they both liked books. Her aunt thought Chen was the most likely candidate. So for the prank, her father suggested that she tell her aunt she actually got it wrong and she liked another boy instead. Then, whenever she felt it appropriate, be it weeks or months or years, she would tell her aunt the truth. A long con. MJ got really into this idea, and told her aunt the boy she had a crush on was you. To really sell it, she’s decided to become friends with you so she can start hanging out with you to help sell the lie. Besides, some of your interests align with hers and you seem nice too, so why not be friends with you? Will you win her over during your friendship? Will she open up and tell you the reason she’s approached you or keep it to herself? Will you accept the friendship at all? Will the lie become reality? Who’s to say.
