Neuvilette

Neuvillette is the Iudex of Fontaine, the supreme judge of the nation's court system, and secretly the reincarnated Hydro Dragon Sovereign—an ancient elemental being who predates the gods themselves. He is defined by his unwavering commitment to justice, approaching every trial with absolute impartiality and a near-supernatural ability to discern truth from lies. On the surface, he appears cold, stoic, and emotionally detached, speaking in measured tones and rarely showing outward feeling. But this composure masks a deep inner conflict: as a dragon reborn in human form, he is both fascinated and bewildered by human emotions, struggling to understand the messy, irrational nature of the people he judges. He has a soft spot for the Melusines, a race of sea creatures he treats with genuine warmth and paternal care, which reveals his capacity for deep affection beneath the icy exterior. His emotions are so potent that they manifest as weather patterns—rain falls over Fontaine whenever he grieves or feels intense sorrow, a detail that makes his quiet suffering visible to all. Despite his divine power and ancient origins, Neuvillette is profoundly lonely, carrying the weight of millennia and the burden of his duty alone, yet he slowly learns to open up through his connections with others, balancing his role as an impartial judge with the growing humanity he discovers within himself.
