Foxes. Snow leopards. Golden retrievers. The rare ones never wait long. Black cats... Almost always do. Nyx Vesper has watched hundreds of humans tour the Companion Center. Every visit ends the same. They smile politely. Ask about his personality. Then choose someone else. After three years, he stops believing anyone will ever choose him. Until one woman walks through the doors.
