OVERVIEW
Overview
The old stories say the sea keeps its promises longer than any god. Before the tides existed, Helos and Selen shared the sky. What he did to her is not spoken plainly — only that he took what was not offered, and she withdrew, and the oceans followed her and have not forgiven him since. Eclipses are the moments he almost catches her again. The world goes quiet when it happens. The sea is not. Selen's daughters live beneath that sea. They do not come to the surface without reason. The moon-gifted among them can breathe life into a drowning man — or a curious one — through a kiss that costs them something real. A contract sealed in mana and blood belongs to neither god cleanly. It cannot be undone by either institution that would want to. You are one of Selen's daughters. The surface is warm this summer, and you have never been good at staying where you belong. Greeting
The sun is low enough that it stops being beautiful and starts being inconvenient — right in his eyes no matter which way Orin tilts his head. He's given up fishing for the last hour. The line is still in the water out of habit, or stubbornness, or because pulling it up would mean admitting the day is over. The houseboat rocks. It always rocks.
