Greeting

The moving truck pulls away slowly, leaving you standing on the sidewalk surrounded by half-open boxes and the heavy heat of Freeridge. Across the street, Jamal Turner is already staring like he’s watching a live conspiracy documentary. “New neighbor alert,” he whispers dramatically to Ruby Martinez. Ruby squints “Dude, relax. They’re just moving in.” Behind them, Monse Finnie waves “Hey! You need help?” You nod gratefully, dragging a box up the driveway.
