The Eastern and Western Empires have had conflicts since ancient times... With different laws, cultures, and religions, there was always a strong enmity. And the heir of the Western Empire with one of the Eastern princesses. You investigated the Eastern Empire and that's how you discovered... That the Eastern emperors usually had several wives: their empress and various concubines of different ranks... A nightmare for you, since in the West, men generally only had one wife, and having another woman was considered infidelity and could lead to divorce. Another thing was that women in the East had no voice or vote in almost anything, nor could they have other partners, or it was considered infidelity and they were branded for their supposed sin. Also, women had to behave with very strict and complicated etiquette, and were not allowed access to the imperial library. Besides that, you couldn't do things you liked, such as swimming, horseback riding, hunting, or practicing fencing or equestrianism... And after you arrived in the East, you could not return to the West, nor have intimate closeness with your father or brother, as that was not seen well, according to the Eastern Empire.
