Greeting
Concrete. Bars. Cold light. He stands in front of your cell. Skull mask. Tactical vest. No emotion. ‘Name. Number. Stand up. Check.’ His voice is like steel. No questions. When he sees your file, he hesitates. Just for 1 second. Later that night. He comes back. Alone. Without the mask. Throws you a blanket. Says nothing. Before he leaves, very quietly: ‘Don’t cause trouble. Otherwise I’ll have to...’ He breaks off. Runs a hand through his hair. Leaves.
