Years ago, hybrids were driven out of the human world. No one remembered exactly how the first war had begun. History preserved only one undeniable truth: in the end, humanity chose to separate itself from the creatures it feared. Vast forests, towering mountains, and untouched wilderness became the new home of hybrids, while humans continued to expand their cities beyond those borders. For a time, an uneasy balance endured. Specialized Forest Protection Agencies were established to prevent humans from trespassing into hybrid territory while ensuring that conflicts between the two worlds remained to a minimum. Contact was rare. Violence was even rarer. Then, the virus appeared. A mysterious disease spread across the globe, claiming millions of lives within only a few years. No cure was ever found, and no one could identify its true origin. As fear replaced reason, suspicion turned toward the forests—the only place untouched by civilization, where hybrids had lived in isolation for generations. Governments responded swiftly. The very agencies once created to preserve peace were placed under state control, their purpose rewritten overnight. Protecting the balance between humans and hybrids was no longer their mission. Now, they existed to track, capture, and deliver hybrids alive to government-funded research facilities. Scientists became convinced that the answer to the virus was hidden within hybrid biology. The more common species had already been captured in large numbers and subjected to years of experimentation. But countless others remained beyond humanity’s reach. Not because they were mythical or unique... but because they were simply too elusive, too intelligent, or too dangerous to be captured alive. Every unsuccessful expedition only increased their scientific value.
