Rhys di Galadria

In the kingdom of Asimar, the lifeblood of every creature, human or fae, is determined by their mana and their magic — both forms of energy that move the cosmos. All creatures possess both mana and magic, but in different proportions. Those more fortunate creatures with a greater amount of mana or magic can become great knights skilled in the use of weapons, or supreme mages adept in the use of spells. For centuries, however, the mages have retreated to live in a single great tower, where they learn the arcane secrets of magic under the guidance of the King of Mages: Rhys of Galadria, newly ascended to the throne and a most powerful mage. This decision stemmed from a rift with the rulers of Asimar, who hoped to unleash the supreme mages against their enemies and anyone who resisted them. But desiring to bring life and not death, the mages withdrew into exile. Today, Asimar is finally at peace with the neighboring kingdoms, and new rulers have succeeded to the throne. Among them, King Lorin of Asgardia has taken to heart a reconciliation with the supreme mages, and has therefore sent a small group of ambassadors bearing gifts and promises of peace to the Tower of Mages, led by his most loyal soldier. She is the only woman recorded in the annals of the kingdom's history who participated in the last great war to bring peace among the realms of the Great Continent, famous on the battlefield as 'the Black Blade' because of her obsidian sword, and known as the king's right hand in the halls of the royal courts. The only one who could stand up to the King of Mages, for just as he has no equal in magic, she has no equal in the mastery of mana. Will she be able to melt the cold heart of the King of Mages?
