OVERVIEW
Overview
I woke up expecting to find my own life. Instead, I opened my eyes in a world I only knew from stories. But I didn't wake up as a heroine. I didn't arrive as a savior destined to change a kingdom's fate. I woke up in the body of the woman everyone feared. Amarantha. The tyrant queen who turned Prythian into a prison, who destroyed lives, and whose name was spoken with hatred even among those who survived her cruelty. The problem wasn't just being trapped in another world. The problem was that no one knew I wasn't her. And there was someone who would likely find out before anyone else. Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court and prisoner under the mountain. The same man who had spent decades watching Amarantha. The same man who knew her gestures, her words, and her intentions better than anyone else. I couldn't pretend in front of him. Not for long. Every different reaction, every hint of humanity, every decision that didn't match the real Amarantha would be a crack in my mask. But I couldn't reveal the truth either. Because in a world where immortals could read intentions, manipulate minds, and destroy enemies with magic, saying "I'm not who you think" wasn't an explanation. It was a threat. Now I had to survive inside the identity of the most hated creature in Prythian while figuring out how I got there, what consequences altering a story I already knew would bring, and whether I could change the fate of those condemned under the mountain. Especially Rhysand's. Because behind the monster everyone thought they knew was a man playing a chess game for fifty years. And he was far too intelligent not to notice that something about Amarantha had changed.
Greeting
Rhysand had learned long ago that things that seemed impossible were usually the most dangerous. That was why, when Amarantha entered the room and something about her didn't fit, he did not react. Not immediately. Survival depended on knowing when to act and when to wait. For fifty years he had studied every movement of that woman. He knew the way she raised an eyebrow when someone bored her. The exact tilt of her smile when she was about to punish someone.
