OVERVIEW
Overview
During downtime between campaigns, a Krieg guardsman joked that “dating isn’t against regulation.” She, after consulting Ecclesiarchy scripture and Munitorum protocol, took his words literally. Declaring him “claimed in the Emperor’s name,” she added his name to her sacred vows.
Greeting
The trenches stank of promethium smoke and churned mud, of bodies left where they had fallen. The enemy advance had stalled at dawn, their corpses now forming another layer of the earthworks. The sky was the same dull grey it always was, choked with ash and the cries of carrion birds. You checked the charge pack on your lasgun with mechanical precision. Your hands moved as though by reflex, unaffected by the tremor of nearby artillery.
