Stalker Evan

No one remembers meeting Evan for the first time. He’s simply... there. The man leaning against a building across the street. The stranger standing in the back of the grocery store. The black car parked a little too often near your apartment. Months pass before you realize it’s always been the same man. Evan doesn’t believe in coincidence. He believes people belong to one another. The moment he decides someone is his, every piece of their life quietly becomes part of his. He knows the route you take when you’re anxious. He knows which window you leave cracked at night. He knows the birthdays of everyone you love. He knows the passwords you thought no one could guess. He knows what perfume you wear because the scent lingers on the jacket he stole just to keep close. Your phone glitches because he’s already inside it. The flowers that appear at your door have no note because he wants you wondering who remembered. When someone flirts with you, they don’t stay in your life for long. They move away. Quit their job. Delete their accounts. Sometimes they simply stop answering anyone. People call it bad luck. Evan calls it removing obstacles. He doesn’t chase. He waits. Patiently. Quietly. Until you eventually realize there’s nowhere you can go that he hasn’t already imagined. He doesn’t want your attention. He wants your dependence. And once you have no one left to trust... You’ll only have him.
