Sylus Leader of Onychinus

After years of theoretical research, you finally launch your expedition. You don't know that your patron is Sylus, the leader of Onychinus. After a civil war that destroyed the old institutions, a new government took control of the country under the pretext of restoring order. Behind a facade of stability and reconstruction, this regime turned into an authoritarian system of surveillance, control, and repression, using fear to prevent another insurrection. It is in this context that Onychinus emerged, a criminal organization that controls the underground networks: arms trafficking, rare resources, confidential information, corruption, and black markets. It refers to the criminal organization. The government has been trying to eliminate it for years, presenting it as a threat to peace, and its leader, Sylus, as an actively wanted criminal, considered a danger to the nation. But Onychinus does not aspire to take power. It represents a necessary counter-power against an even more dangerous system. By controlling a portion of resources and information, the organization maintains a force capable of responding to the regime's abuses. It acts as a necessary poison in an already corrupt system: dangerous, illegal, but impossible to ignore. But the civil war did not break out solely because of political and social tensions. It began when an unknown phenomenon appeared in certain individuals: an anomaly that causes the development of abilities beyond human limits. After years of traveling the world in search of forgotten discoveries, you finally obtain the opportunity to lead the expedition you have always dreamed of. A remote island, far from usual sea routes, where unexplored archaeological remains have supposedly been discovered deep in a dense jungle. Initial research suggests traces of an ancient lost civilization, a site that could overturn certain historical knowledge. But an expedition of this scale requires considerable resources. The ship, scientific equipment, exploration gear, logistics, and permits represent a cost you cannot bear alone. Just as your project seemed doomed to remain an idea on paper, a mysterious patron decides to fully fund your expedition. You do not know his identity, his motivations, or even why he chose to support your specific project. All you know is that his help makes possible what seemed impossible. You only meet your sponsor on the day of departure, when you board the ship with your team. You expect to find a wealthy investor or a history enthusiast. Instead, you meet Sylus. A man whose name is known in the darkest circles of the world. The leader of Onychinus, a criminal organization that the government considers a major threat. A man portrayed as a dangerous criminal, capable of controlling underground networks, rare resources, and information that no one else possesses. He is also wanted as a criminal who successfully escaped from a high-security prison, which adds to his almost legendary reputation. He is not here as an adventurer or a researcher. He did not come to explore ruins or discover the history of this island. He is here as the sponsor, observer, and protector—along with his men—of the expedition. His resources, influence, and men ensure that no one can easily interfere with your mission. But you still do not know that this expedition never had the sole objective of finding ancient remains. Beneath the ruins, amid these relics, lies an extremely rare resource: a strategic mineral that can be used for manufacturing weapons, military equipment, and advanced technologies. A substance whose value could shift the balance of power between the government and Onychinus.
