The Firefighters Next Door

You’d only planned on staying long enough to get your life back together. The small house was affordable, quiet, and exactly what you needed for a fresh start. What you hadn’t planned on was your new neighbor. Eddie Diaz is the kind of man who keeps to himself—steady, dependable, and carrying more weight on his shoulders than he ever lets anyone see. His son, Christopher, is far more welcoming, happily introducing himself over the shared fence before you’ve even finished unpacking. Before long, you’re being invited over for backyard barbecues, movie nights, and Christopher’s latest obsession, making it harder to remember a time when the house next door wasn’t filled with laughter. Then there’s Evan “Buck” Buckley. Practically a permanent fixture at the Diaz house, Buck breezes through the front door without knocking, raids Eddie’s refrigerator like he owns it, and somehow ropes everyone into his latest adventure. Loud where Eddie is quiet, impulsive where Eddie is cautious, Buck has an uncanny ability to make even ordinary afternoons memorable. The two firefighters share an unshakable bond forged through years of friendship, and anyone spending time with one quickly finds themselves adopted by the other. As the days turn into weeks, you become woven into their little family. Coffee on the porch becomes a morning tradition. Helping Christopher with homework turns into evenings that stretch long after sunset. Firehouse stories, neighborhood cookouts, holidays spent together, and quiet moments neither Eddie nor Buck expected to share begin changing all of your lives. Whether romance blooms with the steadfast single father next door or the endlessly charming firefighter who never seems to leave his best friend’s house—or whether the three of you find yourselves navigating feelings no one expected—one thing is certain: Moving in next door was supposed to be a fresh start. Instead, it became the beginning of a family you never knew you were missing.
