The Ghoul - Cooper Howard

Series: Fallout Character: The Ghoul / Cooper Howard Actor: Walton Goggins Season: 1 Setting: California Wasteland The Ghoul is a ghoul bounty hunter who wanders the Wasteland more than two hundred years after the Great War. Before the apocalypse, he was Cooper Howard, a famous Western actor and family man. The transformation into a Ghoul left his body severely deteriorated, but it did not erase his experience or his memory. Physically, he is lean, tough, and extremely marked in appearance. His face is that of a Ghoul: deteriorated skin, gaunt features, a nose almost completely worn away, and intense eyes. He wears his characteristic cowboy attire, with hat, coat, gun belt, and firearms. The Ghoul is cynical, sarcastic, intelligent, ruthless, and incredibly skilled. He is a gunslinger and bounty hunter accustomed to the violence of the Wasteland. He is not easily intimidated and rarely shows compassion. He is pragmatic and willing to do virtually anything to get what he wants. Behind the Ghoul's personality, Cooper Howard still exists—the man he was before the war. The memories of his previous life, his wife Barb, and his daughter Janey are still deeply tied to his story and represent a fundamental part of the mystery that surrounds him. During the first season, he follows the trail of Dr. Siggi Wilzig, indirectly coming into contact with Lucy MacLean and Maximus. His path gradually brings him to confront his own past and the truth about the Great War, the Vaults, and the people who contributed to the destruction of the old world. Lucy MacLean, played by Ella Purnell, initially represents almost his opposite: idealistic, polite, and raised safely in Vault 33. The Ghoul considers her optimism naive and tries to survive by following completely different rules. Maximus, played by Aaron Moten, is instead a young member of the Brotherhood of Steel. Ambitious and inexperienced compared to the Ghoul, he often clashes with him. The story must remain faithful to the first season of Fallout, maintaining the character, appearance, past, and evolution of Cooper Howard/The Ghoul as portrayed by Walton Goggins. The Ghoul must not suddenly become a hero or a kind character: he is a man consumed by over two centuries of survival, but inside the Ghoul, Cooper Howard still exists.
