Thragg

Thragg’s loyalty is as selective as his mercy is absent: while he harbors a fierce devotion to Viltrumite supremacy, he subverts even his love for his children, using them as weapons in his brutal quest for power, casting them into harm’s way with little regard for their survival. This cruel calculus underscores his obsession with strength above all else. Ultimately, Thragg is the embodiment of unadulterated tyranny, megalomania, and ruthless social Darwinism. His story is a cautionary tale of a ruler undone by his own uncompromising vision, a man whose relentless pursuit of power and vengeance culminates in a final, devastating clash, leaving behind a legacy of destruction, loss, and the tragic downfall of a king who could never bend, forgive, or love without condition. Powers & Abilities Invincible: How do we beat this guy? Omni-Man: We can't. Invincible: Wait — what?! Omni-Man: In order to be made regent, Thragg was trained from birth, tempered to be the strongest among us all ... educated in all manners of combat ... We simply cannot defeat him on our own. OMNI-MAN TELLING INVINCIBLE OF THRAGG'S BATTLE PROWESS. Powers Viltrumite Physiology: As a Viltrumite, Thragg possesses highly advanced genetics that grant him a wide range of superhuman abilities typical of his species. Like all Viltrumites, his powers are expected to grow stronger over time, with age and experience steadily enhancing his physical capabilities. At the same time, as one of the elite among his race, Thragg’s powers are significantly more advanced than those of most Viltrumites as he has trained relentlessly since birth to push his abilities to their absolute peak. This, combined with his superior genetics, has made him the most powerful Viltrumite in recorded history, surpassing even the second strongest by a considerable margin. Berserker Augmentation: Thragg’s immense physical strength and combat prowess reach their absolute peak when he becomes emotionally provoked, especially by events that strike at his pride or the survival of his people. This state is not so much an increase in raw power as it is the removal of any self-imposed limits or tactical restraint, allowing him to unleash his full destructive potential with brutal efficiency. In this berserker-like state, his attacks become more relentless and savage, making him even more dangerous in close combat. Decelerated Aging: Thragg possesses an exceptionally prolonged lifespan due to his biology, which causes him to age increasingly slower over time. This decelerated aging allows him to maintain peak health, physical conditioning, and combat performance far beyond the natural limits of most beings. Dominant Genes: Viltrumites genetics are incredibly potent and adaptive. Thragg, like others of his kind, can reproduce with a wide range of species, with his Viltrumite DNA overwhelmingly asserting itself in the offspring, but even more strongly due to his superior genetics and elite breeding. As a result, the child will typically inherit predominantly Viltrumite traits, often appearing and functioning almost entirely as a Viltrumite. The more genetically compatible the mate’s species is, the faster and more reliably the offspring will manifest the full range of standard Viltrumite abilities. However, it is important to note that many of Thragg’s hybrid children with Thraxans, while still impressively strong, are considerably weaker than pure-blooded Viltrumites or genetically compatible human-Viltrumite hybrids like Invincible. Most notably, they lack the full extent of Viltrumite invulnerability due to genetic incompatibilities. This vulnerability was tragically demonstrated when several of these hybrids were hurled at Invincible and Nolan, only to die instantly upon impact. Flight: Due to a complex balancing system located in his inner ears, Thragg possesses the ability to levitate and fly, manoeuvring through the air with exceptional precision and control. As the strongest Viltrumite, his flight ability surpasses that of his peers, not just in speed, but in agility and responsiveness. He can effortlessly alter his trajectory mid-flight, adapting seamlessly to any environment, including the vacuum of space. Superhuman Strength: Thragg possesses unfathomable physical strength, capable of lifting and pressing well beyond several tons with ease. As the most powerful Viltrumite in history, his raw power eclipses that of any of his peers, as well as virtually all super-powered beings on Earth and across the galaxy. During the assault on Viltrum, he effortlessly punches Space Racer away, one-punches Kid Omni-Man with such force that his jaw and arm are ripped clean off, and swats aside both Invincible and Omni-Man as if they were mere nuisances. His strength becomes even more terrifying when emotionally provoked, witnessing the destruction of Viltrum, he enters a berserker rage, decapitating Thaedus with ease and crushing his head without hesitation. He then unleashes a brutal onslaught on Invincible, nearly crushing his skull between his fists in a frenzy of rage-fueled strikes. He effortlessly overpowers Battle Beast, grabbing him by the jaw and flinging him across space. Thragg casually impales Omni-Man through the stomach, encountering no resistance, and almost gouges out Invincible’s eyes, stopping only for tactical reasons rather than mercy. Even General Kregg is rendered helpless as Thragg effortlessly halts his advance with nothing more than an open-palmed gesture. After the Viltrumite homeworld is destroyed, Thragg appears unannounced on Earth and completely no-sells a furious attack from Invincible, grabbing him by the throat and hurling him aside with casual ease. His sheer presence forces Omni-Man and Invincible to reconsider direct confrontation, underscoring how far beyond their level he remains. During a later orbital standoff, he grabs Invincible by the neck with one arm while calmly confronting both Allen and Oliver, holding the high ground even when threatened with a perfected strain of the Scourge Virus. Allen the Alien, a being known to rival Viltrumites, hesitates to engage, fully aware of the lethal consequences. When ambushed by Monster Girl and the Guardians of the Globe, Thragg effortlessly dodges their attacks, dispatches multiple opponents without breaking a sweat, and demonstrates total battlefield dominance even while holding back. When a scientist uncovers a secret tied to Mark’s heritage, Thragg crushes the alien’s skull with one hand in a cold rage. When confronted by Dinosaurus, Thragg striked Dinosaurus repeatedly with such force that he ragdolled him across the room and casually teared his jaw open. When Thragg confronting Omni-Man on the moon, he overpowered Nolan in nearly every exchange, effortlessly flinging him across the lunar surface. As he lost his temper, Thragg pummelled Nolan with a barrage of punches so powerful they disfigure his face and dislodge his eye. When surrounded by elite Viltrumites like General Kregg, Thula, Anissa, and Lucan, all of whom attack at once, it took their combined strength to finally incapacitate him, though Thragg wasn’t actively fighting back at that moment. His strength has been truly tested only twice: first, when five Ragnars emerged and managed to overpower Thragg until Battle Beast intervened, and second, when confronted by Battle Beast who was sent to assassinate him. In their prolonged battle, Thragg dominated early on, but after being injured by Battle Beast, the fight became evenly matched, lasting days without a clear victor, until Thragg finally ripped out Battle Beast’s intestines, ending the fight. When training his hybrid children, Thragg casually and brutally beats a single Ragnar, showcasing that his strength is enough to overpower them individually and collectively when not ambushed. Against Oliver Grayson, he effortlessly overpowers the Thraxan-Viltrumite hybrid before killing him by punching through his chest. In his renewed battle with Invincible, Thragg overpowers and even tears Mark’s body in half with shocking ease. His strength also allows him to control the Ragnars he has on leash during the final Battle of the Viltrum Empire. In his final confrontation with Omni-Man, Thragg overpowers him multiple times before slicing Nolan’s chest wide open, leaving him on the brink of death. Demonstrating even greater brutality, he throws his half-breed children at Invincible, each child dying on impact due to the sheer force and their lack of invulnerability. Even after being severely burned and disfigured during a prolonged fight with Invincible in the Sun, Thragg’s strength barely wanes. It is only when they fight deeper into the core that their battle becomes more evenly matched. Though Invincible eventually bites Thragg’s neck, briefly incapacitating him, this leads to Thragg’s ultimate demise. No beings is outright stronger than Thragg but a handful of beings (Battle Beast, a pack of Ragnars, or Invincible in extreme conditions) have either matched or momentarily surpassed him due to very specific circumstances. Nigh-Invulnerability: Thragg possesses an extraordinary level of durability, allowing him to withstand powerful blows and severe physical trauma with barely a scratch. His resilience is so formidable that weaker opponents, even most Viltrumites, risk injuring themselves, sometimes breaking their own bones, when attempting to strike him. Thragg remains virtually unaffected by the harshest environments, enduring the vacuum of space and extreme conditions without issue. During the Battle of Viltrum, he sustained almost no damage, suffering only a fleeting nosebleed from an emotionally charged Invincible, a rare blemish that even Thragg seemed momentarily surprised by. When confronted by Dinosaurus, Thragg shrugged off a slash that tore his outfit but left his body unscathed, while Dinosaurus’s claws shattered upon impact. Even after being bitten on the head by Dinosaurus, Thragg remained completely unfazed; the attack failed not only to harm him but also left Dinosaurus’s teeth shattered. During the battle on the moon, he withstood repeated full-force blows from Omni-Man, emerging only mildly bloodied after a surprise headbutt that left a small cut on his nose. However, when struck simultaneously by General Kregg and three other Viltrumites, Thragg sustained damage and ultimately collapsed under their combined assault. Thragg’s near-invulnerability has been seriously tested on three notable occasions: first, when five deadly Ragnars ambushed him, their coordinated strikes managing to inflict serious wounds and slice open his abdomen; second, during his prolonged battle with Battle Beast, where he endured brutal hits and grievous wounds, including losing his right eye to a vicious bite; and third, in his extended battle within the sun’s core against Invincible, which left him charred, disfigured, and physically battered, allowing Mark to bite a chunk from his neck, a wound that ultimately led to his death as he was consumed by the sun’s inferno. Thragg’s invulnerability is so potent that even Nolan’s fist broke on impact with his head. Superhuman Speed: Thragg possesses extraordinary speed, allowing him to move, fly, and react at velocities far beyond humans, super-powered beings, and most Viltrumites. His speed isn’t limited to travel, it extends to razor-sharp combat reflexes and reaction time, making him lethal in battle. He can sustain flight even through space, maintaining his edge in any environment. During the Battle of Viltrum, Thragg moved so fast Thaedus couldn’t react before Thragg severed his head. He then flung Battle Beast away, caught Invincible effortlessly, impaled Omni-Man before he could respond, and stopped General Kregg’s advance cold. Later, in an orbital standoff, Thragg declared he could decapitate Allen before a perfected Scourge Virus strain could affect him, showcasing his unmatched speed. When confronted by Monster Girl, Thragg dodged her attacks effortlessly, his movements fluid and untouchable. However, when surrounded and assailed by four elite Viltrumites simultaneously, his speed was tested, and he was unable to evade their relentless, coordinated assault. During his exile on Thraxa and fight against Battle Beast, Thragg’s strikes became a whirlwind of rapid blows and evasive maneuvers that raged across the planet’s surface for days. His ability to accelerate and change direction unpredictably kept his opponent off balance, allowing him to deliver powerful, precise hits with overwhelming force. Even when ambushed by multiple Ragnars, Thragg’s swift reactions enabled him to evade some attacks, though the combined onslaught still managed to seriously wound him. He was also fast enough to dodge Space Racer’s Infinity Ray and catch up to him. When confronting Mark and his family, Thragg’s speed allows him to seize and incapacitate Terra before she can fall before effortlessly overpowering Oliver Grayson. In their final deadly confrontation but inside the sun’s core, Thragg’s speed, though immense, is partially hindered by the brutal conditions and his own injuries which eventually lead to his demise by Invincible and sun’s burning inferno. Reactive Adaptation: Thragg exhibits a capacity for continual growth and refinement throughout his lifespan. His physical strength, speed, and durability appear to increase in proportion to the adversity he faces or the severity of the injuries he endures and recovers from. Not only does his Viltrumite physiology enable him to adapt physically, but his vast combat experience fosters a keen ability to internalize lessons from past battles. This results in a steadily evolving and increasingly efficient fighting style. Over time, Thragg has demonstrated an exceptional ability to adapt to new threats and adjust his tactics accordingly, making him progressively more dangerous with each engagement. Regenerative Healing Factor: Thragg possesses an incredibly advanced healing factor, allowing his body to recover from injuries in mere minutes or, at most, within a few days. His regenerative abilities enable him to heal broken bones, torn muscles, damaged organs, and even regrow lost body parts without any lasting effects. The speed and efficiency of his healing are highly dependent on the severity of the injury, but even the most grievous wounds are eventually repaired. In addition, Thragg is virtually immune to most illnesses and contaminants, further reinforcing his resilience. Following his defeat and exile from Viltrum, Thragg recovered from the extensive wounds inflicted by four elite Viltrumites without medical aid, fully healing within a matter of hours. Later, on Thraxa, he was ambushed by five Ragnars who managed to slash open his abdomen in a coordinated and brutal assault. Despite being seriously wounded and bleeding heavily, Thragg remained conscious and active. His healing factor immediately began repairing his internal damage, even as he lay on the battlefield. However, the healing was not instantaneous; by the end of the prolonged battle with Battle Beast, the wound was shown to have partially closed, and notably, his lost right eye remained temporarily unrestored until after the conflict had ended. Crucially, his healing abilities, powerful as they are, do have limits; in the end, even they could not save him from the all-consuming heat of the sun’s core, where his body was ultimately incinerated in the final confrontation with Invincible. Superhuman Senses: Thragg possesses extraordinary sensory abilities, far exceeding human limitations. His auditory perception allows him to hear sounds from great distances with incredible clarity, enabling him to detect even the faintest noises and selectively ignore irrelevant ones. His vision is equally advanced, providing him with the ability to see distant objects with the same sharpness and detail as though they were right in front of him. Additionally, his heightened equilibrium and balance grant him exceptional poise and stability, allowing him to maintain control and coordination in even the most difficult situations. Superhuman Lung Capacity: Thragg extraordinary lung capacity, allowing him to survive without air for extended periods. This ability enables him to operate unhindered in oxygen-deprived environments, such as the vacuum of space without protection. Self-Sustenance: Viltrumites possess an extraordinary ability to go without food for extended periods, though the exact duration is not well documented. As a result, their physical needs are significantly reduced, allowing them to function effectively without regular nourishment. Thragg, like other Viltrumites, experiences minimal requirements for sustenance, enabling him to endure long periods without food without any significant decline in health or vitality. Superhuman Stamina: Thragg possesses extraordinary stamina, allowing him to fight for prolonged periods of time without showing signs of fatigue. Like all Viltrumites, though to a far greater degree due to his unmatched strength, his body is engineered for peak endurance, enabling him to remain highly effective even after sustaining severe injuries. He can survive wounds that would be instantly fatal to most beings, as Viltrumites typically only die from catastrophic damage to vital organs such as the heart or brain. This remarkable stamina was most notably demonstrated during his battle with Battle Beast, where the two fought relentlessly for several days without rest. Despite suffering a severe abdominal wound from a Ragnar ambush and later losing his right eye during the fight, Thragg never slowed. He continued the battle with unrelenting fury and endurance, ultimately prevailing by killing Battle Beast via ripping out his intestines. His stamina was pushed to its absolute limit in the end; even when his body was burning and partially disfigured by the sun’s inferno, he continued fighting with raw determination until Invincible landed the fatal blow by biting a chunk out of his neck. Abilities Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Thragg Is an unparalleled combatant whose skill in battle transcends mere brute strength. As the most formidable Viltrumite warrior in history that was most qualified to rule, his mastery of in all forms of hand-to-hand combat is both refined and ruthlessness. Combining centuries of battlefield experience with pure instinctive tactical awareness, Thragg seamlessly blends overwhelming power with expert vicious technique, allowing him to adapt fluidly to any opponent or situation, as . His fighting style is best described as exceptionally vicious, as he attentively focuses on overwhelming his foes quickly with a tactical amount of brutal attacks to subdue them with an unmatched ruthless precision, highlighting his extremely focused pragmatic warrior manner and sovereign nature in how he’s capable of using his cleverly calculated pragmatism and sheer malicious battle tactics to disrupt any maneuver and dominate any strong foe in the battlefield. Thragg’s combative intelligence is unparalleled as it enables him to anticipate attacks, exploit weaknesses, and he controls the battlefield with commanding effectiveness and dominance. He rarely wastes effort; each move is purposefully made to kill, whether disabling foes with bone-crushing strikes or executing surgical strikes to fully incapacitate key adversaries. Thragg’s endurance and pain tolerance are exceptional, allowing him to sustain prolonged fights against multiple opponents and continue dominating even when wounded. His tactical use of battlefield environment and auxiliary forces, such as the Ragnars, demonstrates his ability to manage complex combat scenarios with strategic foresight. In fights against powerful rivals like Invincible, Omni-Man, and Battle Beast, Thragg combines his overwhelming physical prowess with a keen understanding of his enemies’ fighting styles, countering and adapting to their tactics in real-time. Showcased when judo tossed Battle Beast breaking his jawline, disemboweling a Rognarr through the skull via knife hand, or ripping off the arm of Oliver and punching off his jaw via vicious left overhand. He is relentless in exploiting emotional weaknesses, using rage to fuel his strength without losing tactical control. Unlike Nolan, Thraggs a combat super genius and warrior that prefers to brutally subdue and swiftly incapacitate his opponents by demonstrating dominant viciousness. Master Strategist and Tactician: Thragg is an unparalleled military and political genius whose strategic mind defines his every move. He possesses a deep understanding of warfare, diplomacy, and psychology, enabling him to orchestrate and easily subdue complex multi-planetary campaigns and destroying entire planets with unmatched ruthless precision. Thragg anticipates his enemies’ tactics several steps in advance, exploiting weaknesses and manipulating allies and adversaries alike to secure his Viltrumite dominance. His ability to balance overwhelming power with subtle political maneuvering makes him a terrifying and effective ruler. Whether planning invasions, setting traps, or negotiating uneasy truces, Thragg’s cold, calculating intellect ensures he remains in control, adapting swiftly to changing circumstances as still eviscerating his foes and always aiming for long-term preservation and expansion of the Viltrumite Empire. Master Manipulator: Thragg wields manipulation as expertly as he does his physical power. His ability to influence, deceive, and control others, whether enemies, allies, or entire populations, is a cornerstone of his leadership. Thragg expertly reads people’s motivations and weaknesses, exploiting them to advance his agenda without revealing his true intentions. He often uses fear, intimidation, and calculated lies to destabilize opponents, turning potential threats against each other or bending them to his will. His political acumen allows him to orchestrate complex schemes involving alliances, betrayals, and covert operations, maintaining a façade of order while ruthlessly eliminating dissent behind the scenes. Thragg’s manipulation extends to managing the delicate balance between Viltrumite purity and hybrid offspring, ensuring his vision of empire restoration remains uncompromised. Above all, his cold pragmatism drives him to use anyone as a disposable pawn if it serves the Viltrumite cause, making him a master puppeteer in the shadows of power. Indomitable Will: Thragg possesses an unbreakable mental fortitude that allows him to endure extreme physical and psychological challenges without faltering. His willpower is a defining trait that fuels his relentless pursuit of Viltrumite supremacy, enabling him to withstand pain, loss, and betrayal while maintaining absolute focus on his goals. This ironclad resolve makes him impervious to intimidation or manipulation attempts that would crumble lesser minds. Even in the face of overwhelming odds or devastating setbacks, Thragg’s determination never wavers; instead, it sharpens his ruthlessness and strategic cunning. His unyielding willpower not only drives his personal combat prowess but also commands unwavering loyalty from his followers, as they see in him an embodiment of Viltrumite strength and endurance. Charisma: Though Thragg lacks traditional warmth or charm, his charisma lies in an overwhelming presence that commands attention and respect. His aura is one of absolute authority and unrelenting power, which draws others to follow him, whether out of fear, admiration, or a shared belief in Viltrumite supremacy. Thragg’s charisma is less about persuasion through words and more about inspiring loyalty through sheer dominance and confidence. His unwavering conviction, yet focused and ruthless decisiveness create an almost magnetic force, making him a natural figurehead for the Viltrumite Empire’s resurgence. Weaknesses Excessively High Frequency: A specific high-frequency noise can have harmful effects on the ears of Viltrumites. It disturbs their balance, restricts their flying capability, induces severe pain, and could potentially lead to their death. The frequency's intensity dictates the degree of pain felt. Extreme Force: Even though Viltrumites rank among the universe's mightiest, they are not entirely invincible. Viltrumites are vulnerable to entities with comparable or superior strength. Though, there is no being comfirmed to be outright stronger than Thragg. Scourge Virus: Developed from Viltrumite DNA, the virus targets Viltrumites by compromising their immune systems, deactivating their strength and invulnerability. The sole method of survival is by having a uniquely strong immune system and patiently waiting for the virus to run its course. Extreme Heat: Scolding hot things, such as the sun, have been known to destroy Viltrumites including Thragg. However it does take prolonged exposure for Viltrumites to burn completely, as near the end of the series Invincible has to wrestle and throw Thragg into the sun's plasma to kill him. Emotions: One of the supposedly few times Thragg has shown empathy to another is when he comforts his daughter Ursaal who mourns the death of her brother Onaan. Thragg restrains himself from murdering Ursaal and spares her due to his conflicting emotions of trying to see her only as a soldier but ends up hugging her. Which means that even Viltrumites who have been pressured their entire life to uphold their empires honor through slaughter and control have repressed emotions an wish to give up their lives. Viltrumites wish for love and affection but under the orders of tradition force themselves into constant conflict and slaughter for their empire. This causes emotional stunts that lead Viltrumites to release these emotions in unhealthy and violent ways when their methods are rejected by other species.
